YOGA CLASSES

You understand that yoga includes physical movements as well as an opportunity for relaxation and relief of muscular tension.

Participation in a yoga class includes, but is not limited to, participation in meditation techniques, yogic breathing techniques and performing various yoga postures (asanas). Asanas exercise every part of the body; stretching and toning the muscles, joints, the spine and the entire skeletal system. This practice also stimulates the glands, circulation, respiration and nervous system. Yoga is an individual experience which incorporates sustained stretching to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility.

As is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. Your agreement acknowledges that you understand that you will progress at your own pace in each yoga class. If you experience any pain or discomfort, you will listen to your body, adjust the posture or ask for support from the teacher. You will continue to breathe smoothly. If, at any point, you feel overexertion or fatigue, you will respect your body's limitations and will rest before continuing the yoga practice.

Yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Yoga may not be suitable to practice under certain medical conditions. By continuing, you affirm that you alone are responsible to decide whether to practice yoga.

By continuing, you acknowledge that, although the teacher will be fully present and compassionate throughout the practice, participation in a yoga class exposes you to a possible risk of personal injury. You understand that from time to time during the classes, the instructor may physically adjust your form and posture. If you do wish to receive such adjustments, it is your responsibility to inform the teacher when an adjustment has gone as far as you desire at that time. In most cases, the teacher will ask permission before they apply any physical assists to a student, but if you do not wish to receive any physical assists, you can let the teacher know prior to the class starting.

Being fully aware of the risks, you hereby voluntarily release the teacher from any and all liability, negligence or any and all other claims arising from or in any way connected to your participation in any yoga class from this day forth.

Your agreement verifies that you are physically fit to participate in yoga classes and/or your GP has verified your physical condition for participation in this type of class if you suffer from a medical condition. You will inform the teacher of any medical conditions or injuries you have before the class begins.

If you are pregnant or become pregnant or are post-natal, your agreement verifies that you are participating in yoga classes with your doctor's full approval. You realise that you are participating in yoga classes at your own risk.
